2009 Undergraduate Summer Internship Program

The UC Merced Center for Computational Biology (CCB) provides a unique training experience to students wishing to explore the field of computational biology by providing an opportunity for students to learn quantitative computational and mathematical modeling in the Life Sciences. Students will attend classes taught by core faculty and staffs, and will have a unique opportunity to work with scientists and subsequently apply the knowledge towards projects.

Program Dates: June 1– July 12, 2009

Application Deadline: April 15 , 2009

Program features:

This program is designed to foster entry into a computational biology research. This year, we will focus on the principles and application of molecular simulations and modeling. You will actively participate in research projects and lectures on related subjects during this program.

Requirements:

  1. Applicant must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  2. Must be a junior or senior college standing in a relevant discipline of natural science, physical science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
  3. Have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale (or equivalent) in science courses during the last two semesters of undergraduate study.
  4. Importantly, willing to learn computational and mathematical approaches to biological systems.
